IT'S RACE DAY - It is a beautiful Friday and we are ready to get back to some racing after we missed racing for the first time in a long time while on a great vacation. But its time to get back at it, after Brett Gonyaw and Andrew Molleur put on a great show in the SK Lites last week where Andrew would nail down another win this season and Mike Christopher Jr and Ryan Preece battled it out in the SK mods where Christopher earned his first SK victory in a great race. The weather is perfect for tonight's racing both at Stafford Motor Speedway and Claremont Speedway.
It is week number nine for Stafford, we believe at this point they may be the only ones left in the Northeast that have not had a rain-out or change in schedule due to weather. Stafford is holding a regular Friday night race this week with 5 divisions of NASCAR Racing. If you plan to head up to Claremont, click HERE to get to their webpage as well.
The Whelen Modified Tour has been busy lately as just last week Justin Bonsignore won again at the Thompson 125 giving him his third win on the season already. This weekend they will be heading south to Langley Speedway. Going into this race Bonsignore leads the points chase followed by Chase Dowling who is only 19 points back and Craig Lutz is 29 points back currently sitting in third. With 28 cars on the entry list for the race it should be a stout field. This should be a great show down south. After last race it looked to be the Coby and Preece show as they lapped the majority of the field at one point. A yellow would re-rack things and change the whole momentum and really shake things up, how will Langley play out is the question as we are now at the stage where points are starting to show a interesting battle shaping up. The action will start at 8:30PM. The race will not be aired live but is being taped and will be shown on NBCSN at 7PM on Thrusday June 28th. For more information going into the race click HERE.
Unfortunately, on the northern front has already had a change of plans for Saturday due to that evil word 'Rain'. Yesterday afternoon Monadnock made the early call to postpone the ISMA race, already rescheduled once due to poor weather. The good news is with the early call they have moved the event to next Saturday, June 30th. The bad news is no racing will be held at Monadnock again this weekend.
We are crossing our fingers that mother nature allows us to get a race in again this Saturday at the Shoreline Oval. This week at The New London Waterford Speed Bowl they have the Pro-4 Modifieds added on the race card. With the grandstands opening at 3 pm for a full night of racing including the SK Lights, Legends, Sportsman, Ct. Pro 4 Mods, Mini Stocks, Late Models and finally the SK Modifieds. We are crossing our fingers for some rays of sunshine so we can get some more good racing in! Waterford information found HERE.
Also on Saturday, Seekonk will be trying to get a race in as well. They have been subject to some poor weather patterns along with the rest of the tracks too. If you plan on heading out to Seekonk click HERE for more information on their weekly show.
Another much anticipated show is taking place this weekend. The Short Track Show Down held at The one mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway. They will be hosting a two-day event up in Loudon NH starting on Saturday they will hold practice all day for all divisions starting at 9 AM. They will be rotating practice till 5 PM with a midday lunch break. All the action will take place on Sunday. The race card will be full with GSPSS, NEMST, SSSS, VMRS all having heat races as well as features. All divisions look to have a strong car count and some good drivers coming.
Modified racing at Louden, how can you go wrong! With the race in Langley this weekend Rowan Pennick will be unable to make it back to drive the #25 but Jon McKennedy will be filling the seat
for him for this race. Others expected to be racing in the VMRS race include Pitkat, Silk, Monahan, Rocco, Gallup, Rameau, Richardi, Sontag, Lashua, Schneider, Les Hinckley, Seidell, Flannery, Robbie, Etheridge, Rock, Jonny Kay, Doucette, Bolton, Shaw, Dolan, Perry, Willis, Nocella, Dauzat and Savary. Flannery has been running strong this season and Mike Willis is coming off a win at Claremont in the first Tri-Track race of the season. It should be a good race!! For more information on the VMRS click HERE.
There are some impending weather concerns with this show as well, they have been updating their Facebook page and currently are very optimistic that they will be able to get the show in. Follow the Short Track Show Down facebook page HERE for more information. It should be a great weekend of racing with lots going on once again, as long as we keep the rain clouds away. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and Facebook group as well. We will try to update and post as we know anything more about rain conditions and if there are any scheduling changes.
